Cairo: Suez: Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Osama Rabie announced that the integrated oil supply and services vessel 'Fakhr 1' has set sail ahead of its joining the Authority's marine fleet, following the completion of its construction at the Chinese Ningde Tai Jinzhou Yuajin shipyard.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the vessel is owned by a consortium comprising El Timsah Shipbuilding Company, Canal Mooring and Lights Company, and Canal Ropes Company. It is the fourth vessel in the oil services fleet operated by El Timsah Shipbuilding Company, one of the Authority's affiliated firms, whose fleet also includes the vessels 'Aman,' 'Ahmed Fadel,' and 'Badr.'
'Fakhr 1' is equipped with the latest technologies for fuel-efficient marine operations. It is also fitted for diving operations and operates with a DP2 dynamic positioning system, enabling it to maintain its position without dropping anchor. The vessel measures 64.8 meters in length, 16 meters in width, with a draft of 5 meters, and can accommodate a crew of up to 60 personnel.
Rabie stated that the addition of 'Fakhr 1' represents the culmination of the Authority's efforts to enhance its marine fleet's capabilities across various vessel types. It also reflects the commitment to diversifying revenue streams through participation in oil and gas exploration with units that keep pace with the latest technologies.
He added that the vessel has successfully completed sea and dock trials at the Chinese shipyard, in the presence of representatives from El Timsah Shipbuilding Company and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Preparations are underway for its delivery and entry into service upon its arrival early next month.
