Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has affirmed a strong commitment to providing full support for the rebuilding and development of the Palestinian healthcare system, with a particular focus on Gaza.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting with Palestine's Permanent Representative to the Arab League (AL), Muhannad al-Aklouk, the minister underscored the importance of establishing comprehensive and mobile medical clinics. Abdel Ghaffar directed that swift technical studies be carried out to meet the urgent healthcare needs of the Palestinian territories.
The Egyptian minister also highlighted a plan for the exchange of medical delegations across various specialties. This initiative aims to transfer expertise and enhance the capacity of Palestinian healthcare personnel, thereby strengthening the overall healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Furthermore, the meeting delved into the support for the pharmaceutical sector by ensuring the provision of urgently needed medicines and medical supplies to Gaza. Cooperation in first aid services was also discussed, with Egypt offering its experience in this field as a model for Palestinian counterparts to draw upon.
For his part, Muhannad al-Aklouk expressed appreciation for Egypt's unwavering stance and ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people since October 2023. He praised the significant progress achieved within Egypt's own healthcare system, which serves as a testament to its capability to assist others in the region.
