Johannesburg: Chairman of the Trade, Industry and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Committee at the Egyptian Senate MP Mohamed Halawa was elected chair of the committee on trade, customs and migration at the Pan-African Parliament (PAP).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the election took place as part of the ongoing sessions of the Pan-African Parliament, currently being held in Johannesburg from April 26 to May 6. Halawa's appointment followed his unanimous nomination by the North African group, reflecting strong confidence in Egyptian competencies within continental parliamentary institutions.
This victory reinforces Egypt's role within the Pan-African Parliament, particularly in economic and trade-related issues, and paves the way for enhanced coordination with African parliaments in support of economic integration and shared development efforts across the continent.
