Cairo: The Ministry of Justice stressed on Saturday, May 2, 2026, that the new labor law represents a significant step toward consolidating the principles of swift justice, enhancing the work environment, and ensuring the protection of workers' rights, in line with the requirements of development and investment.According to State Information Service Egypt, in a Labor Day statement, the ministry, in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve the work environment and safeguard workers' rights, said the law reflects the state's broader approach to modernizing the legislative system and strengthening social protection, embodying a comprehensive vision for achieving social justice and sustainable development. The Ministry stated that the new law introduced major reforms, most notably the establishment of specialized labor courts aimed at facilitating and expediting litigation procedures, ensuring the swift resolution of labor disputes, and achieving justice efficiently. The law has been in effect since last October, in a move designed to reduce litigation timeframes and provide a more effective judicial response to labor-related cases, especially amid growing challenges in the labor market, the ministry said.It added that the new system also includes the creation of legal aid offices within labor courts, along with specialized enforcement departments, contributing to simplifying procedures for litigants and ensuring the effective implementation of rulings. The ministry emphasized that the new legislation seeks to strike a balance between both sides of the production process, safeguarding workers' rights on one hand while supporting investment climate and labor market stability on the other hand.
