Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty praised the strong relations between Egypt and Mali, reiterating Egypt’s condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in the country. He affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Mali in confronting these terrorist acts and its firm rejection of all attacks that undermine the security and stability of the Malian state.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this came during a phone call the Foreign Minister received from Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop. The discussion focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel region. The Foreign Minister stressed Egypt’s firm stance rejecting all forms of terrorism and extremism, highlighting the importance of regional and international cooperation to combat this phenomenon, cut off its sources of financing, and confront the extremist ideology that fuels it. He noted that this would contribute to enhancing security and stability in the Sahel region and across the African continent through a comprehensive approach linking security and development.

For his part, Mali’s foreign minister reviewed the latest security developments in his country and ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, which contribute to achieving security and stability in Mali, while addressing the rapidly evolving events in the country. The two ministers exchanged views on ways to establish stability, security, and peace, and to achieve development in the African continent.

Both sides agreed to enhance coordination at the bilateral and multilateral levels and to build on the existing political and development momentum in a manner that serves common interests and supports stability and development across Africa.
