Ankara: Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, took part in the opening of an international roundtable in Ankara on child protection in the digital environment. The event, hosted by Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services, was attended by First Lady Emine Erdogan.According to State Information Service Egypt, Morsy highlighted Egypt's dual responsibility of shielding children from online harm while enabling them to benefit safely from digital opportunities. She pointed to Egypt's framework combining child protection laws, cyber safety legislation, and family awareness programs such as the Child Helpline and 'Mawadda.'She also noted Egypt's launch of a 'SIM card for children' initiative, embedding parental controls and age-based content filters into telecom systems. Morsy stressed that protection must be paired with education, equipping children, parents, and teachers with tools for safe digital navigation.Calling for stronger international cooperation, she urged alignment of regulatory approa ches and collaboration with global platforms to ensure responsible innovation. Morsy concluded that safeguarding children online is a shared duty requiring ethical innovation and cross-border partnerships to secure their wellbeing and growth.
