PM Reviews Future Priorities of Youth and Sports Sector

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, with Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil to review the ministry's future work priorities and strategic directions, in the presence of senior ministry officials.According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the state's commitment-under the directives of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi-to advancing the youth and sports sector as a cornerstone of human development and sustainable growth. He highlighted ongoing efforts to modernise sports infrastructure, expand access to activities and programmes, and upgrade facilities to international standards to maximise the potential of Egyptian youth.For his part, Nabil outlined a comprehensive framework for the ministry's future work, based on four main pillars aligned with Egypt Vision 2030, the Government's 2028 programme, and the National Youth and Sports Strategy 2032.The first pillar focuses on achieving integrated development for youth and children through upgrading yo uth centres nationwide, empowering young people politically and economically, expanding volunteerism, enhancing youth tourism, supporting entrepreneurship, promoting mental health programmes, and strengthening outreach in border governorates.The second pillar aims to promote sport for all Egyptians by expanding community and grassroots sports activities, supporting popular sports, strengthening university and school sports systems, advancing specialised federations, organising national esports competitions, and fostering partnerships to increase youth access to sports equipment.The third pillar centres on advancing sporting competitiveness and leadership, including structured preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, institutionalising national talent development projects, enhancing governance and oversight of sports federations and clubs, establishing sports companies, and launching a unified digital platform for sports medicine.The fourth pillar addresses governance reform in the youth and s ports sectors through integrating informal fitness centres into the formal economy, attracting major international sporting events, promoting sports tourism, simplifying licensing procedures for sports investment, accelerating the Egyptian Football Development Plan 2038, and improving management of youth and sports construction projects nationwide.Nabil also reviewed progress on ongoing youth and sports infrastructure projects and presented a medium-term implementation framework, including clear programmes, timelines, performance indicators, and funding mechanisms. He emphasised strengthening partnerships with state institutions, civil society, and development partners to ensure effective delivery.The meeting reflects the government's continued commitment to empowering youth, expanding sports participation, and enhancing Egypt's regional and international sporting standing.
