Cabinet Denies Claim on Alleged $600M Daily Tourism Losses

Cairo: The Cabinet’s media center has denied reports claiming that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated Egypt’s tourism sector is losing $600 million per day.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the center clarified that the remarks were misinterpreted on social media, emphasizing that the figure referred to estimated losses across the wider region, not Egypt specifically. The statement highlighted that the estimate pertains to regional tourism losses resulting from flight cancellations and reduced travel to the Middle East. This estimation is based on data from the World Travel and Tourism Council.

The center urged the public to verify information through official sources and avoid circulating inaccurate reports.
