Youth Minister and UNDP Discuss Strategies to Enhance Youth Empowerment

New capital: Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil held talks on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, with Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Chitose Noguchi on ways to deepen joint cooperation in youth empowerment and capacity-building. The meeting took place at the ministry's headquarters in the New Capital, in the presence of Abir Shakwier, the Assistant Resident Representative of the UNDP.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Noguchi congratulated the minister on assuming his post and expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation in the coming phase, building on the existing partnership between the two sides. Discussions covered a number of areas of cooperation, including the implementation of joint programs aimed at preparing young people for the labor market, promoting entrepreneurship, and supporting community projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and maximizing the potential of youth.

The minister affirmed the ministry's commitment to expanding its partnership with the UNDP in line with the state's approach to investing in young people as a cornerstone of future development. He also highlighted the importance of benefiting from international expertise in developing programs and initiatives for youth. He further stressed the need to enhance coordination among international partners in the youth sector to ensure complementary efforts and maximize development impact, in line with Egypt's national priorities.

For her part, the UNDP representative expressed appreciation for ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, affirming the program's preparedness to strengthen partnership in the coming period through the implementation of qualitative projects supporting innovation, digital transformation, climate action, and the economic and social empowerment of youth, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals in Egypt.
