PM Meets Italy’s Eni Officials to Discuss Energy Investment

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held talks on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with executives from Italy's Eni to discuss current operations and future investments, stressing Egypt's commitment to a stable and attractive business climate. The meeting came during a visit to the offshore rig 'Cairo-2' after it completed drilling the exploratory well 'Dennis West 1X' in the Mediterranean off Port Said.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly stated that the energy sector is a priority due to its significant role in economic growth. He highlighted the productive cooperation with Eni, noting progress in exploration and production. Madbouly emphasized Egypt's ambition to expand activities to increase output, meet local demand, and support exports.

For his part, Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi expressed the government's efforts to encourage further investment and expedite exploration activities. He assured that dues owed to foreign partners will be settled soon, reflecting the government's commitment to fostering a favorable investment environment.

Eni officials presented a comprehensive review of the company's investments and operations in Egypt, highlighting recent exploration results that indicate promising potential in its concession areas. They also outlined future plans and community initiatives, reinforcing Eni's commitment to its partnership with Egypt.
