Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty underscored the importance of joint Arab co-operation and the firm belief in collective action to confront global development challenges. This came as Abdelatty participated in a virtual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) on Monday, May 4, 2026, in his capacity as Egypt's Governor to the Fund.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting is part of the efforts aiming to consolidate development co-operation with regional partners and advancing Arab economic integration. Abdelatty praised the AFESD as one of the leading financial institutions supporting sustainable development pathways, commending its positive financial performance and the growth of its assets and reserves, which reflect its strong financial position and efficiency despite ongoing global economic disruptions.
The minister also expressed pride in Egypt's longstanding and close co-operation with the AFESD, which has supported numerous strategic development projects across vital sectors, including renewable energy and infrastructure, contributing to national development efforts. He noted that the partnership between Egypt and the AFESD has evolved beyond traditional financing into a model of constructive co-operation aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030 sustainable development agenda.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt's aspiration to build on this successful partnership and further strengthen co-operation frameworks in the coming period, in a way that meets the aspirations of Arab peoples for greater prosperity.
