Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem Discusses Egypt’s Strategy to Boost Local Manufacturing

Riga: Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem participated in a session entitled ‘Egypt’s Experience in Increasing Productivity and Deepening Local Manufacturing’, on the sidelines of the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held in Riga. The minister emphasized the ministry’s updated strategy aimed at advancing Egyptian industry and increasing industrial exports to $100 billion by 2030. This is to be achieved by focusing on attracting global investments related to the transfer of technology and industrial expertise.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the strategy has identified seven priority industries based on scientific foundations and standards. This approach aims to create an attractive investment environment and establish suitable industrial policies. The prioritized industries include ready-made garments, spinning and weaving, food and pharmaceutical industries, automobiles, electrical and engineering equipment, and electronics assembly. Additionally, several enabling, complementary, and strategic industries have been identified to support these goals.
