Egypt and Germany Explore Opportunities to Strengthen Industrial Cooperation

Cairo: Minister of Industry Engineer Khaled Hashem held a meeting with the German Ambassador in Egypt, Jrgen Schulz, to discuss the enhancement of industrial cooperation between Egypt and Germany in sectors of mutual interest. The meeting, attended by Dr. Ahmed Maghawry, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation, and several ministry leaders, aimed to explore new avenues for collaboration in the industrial sector.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting highlighted successful examples of German companies, such as Siemens and Henkel, which have contributed significantly to the Egyptian market and exports. Discussions also centered on potential industrial cooperation opportunities for German companies to expand their presence in Egypt.

Minister Hashem underscored the importance of the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany in fostering economic and industrial partnerships. He emphasized the need for German companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to leverage current investment opportunities in Egypt, including trade agreements, a skilled workforce, and investment incentives. Hashem also mentioned the "Sun of Industry" initiative, which promotes the use of solar energy in Egyptian industry.

The possibility of organizing a trade mission with the German Embassy in Cairo and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce was discussed. This mission would allow German companies to explore new investment opportunities in Egypt. Additionally, a roundtable discussion for German companies operating in Egypt was proposed to address expansion plans and operational challenges.

Khaled Hashem also spoke about Egypt's updated National Automotive Industry Development Program, which offers incentives to car manufacturers and supporting industries. He encouraged German automotive companies to take advantage of these benefits, which include added value, investment, environmental, and export incentives.

In the field of technical education and vocational training, Hashem expressed Egypt's interest in collaborating with Germany to enhance the quality of technical education graduates. He highlighted the potential for creating a world-class training program, benefiting from Germany's expertise and experience in this area.
