Egypt Joins Global Celebration of World Environment Day 2026

Cairo: Minister of Local Development and Environment Dr. Manal Awad announced that Egypt will join the world in celebrating World Environment Day 2026, which falls on June 5th each year. The Republic of Azerbaijan will host the event this year under the theme "The Planet Doesn't Argue, It Doesn't Negotiate, It Sends Only Signals," focusing on climate change as one of the most pressing challenges at both the global and national levels.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Manal Awad emphasized that Egypt's participation in this global event serves as a national message demanding urgent action. She noted that climate change is no longer just a future warning, but a tangible reality requiring immediate and coordinated action from governments, institutions, the private sector, civil society, and individuals.

The Minister affirmed that World Environment Day represents an opportunity to renew global commitment to climate and sustainable development goals and to strengthen partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society. This collaboration aims to support more effective measures to reduce emissions, preserve natural resources, and enhance communities' resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Manal Awad highlighted that Egypt joins the world in celebrating this occasion amidst accelerated steps to bolster sustainable development, expand green projects, and support efforts to adapt to the effects of climate change, which has become one of the greatest global challenges.
