Washington: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh emphasized Egypt's commitment to transforming its agriculture sector into a competitive export industry.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a meeting in Washington with the President of the International Fund of Agricultural Development (IFAD), both parties explored avenues for cooperation to bolster food security and enhance agricultural exports. Farid outlined a strategic plan aimed at training farmers to meet international standards, improving production and packaging, and attracting investments in value chains to boost efficiency and exports.
He further elaborated on ongoing efforts to ensure crops meet global requirements and to access new markets, alongside initiatives to support small-scale farmers. IFAD President Alvaro Lario expressed the organization's readiness to support Egypt's priorities, including agricultural development and financial inclusion.
The discussions also covered existing projects such as the CROWN initiative and strategies to reduce Egypt's reliance on imports.
