Cairo: Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed el Tayeb affirmed the depth of relations between Al-Azhar and Jordan, expressing his appreciation for King Abdullah II and his efforts in serving the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations. The Grand Imam also wished King Abdullah II continued health and well-being.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Tayeb made his remarks during a meeting with Jordan's Ambassador in Cairo, Amjad al Adaileh, on Thursday, April 30, 2026. He stressed Al Azhar's readiness to meet all Jordan's academic and Da'wah needs by offering scholarships to Jordanian students, dispatching Al Azhar envoys, and hosting Jordanian imams for training at the Al-Azhar International Academy for the Training of Imams and Preachers.
For his part, the Jordanian ambassador conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II to the Grand Imam and expressed appreciation for Al Azhar's significant role in supporting the causes of the nation and Muslims worldwide. The ambassador also underscored Jordan's keenness to strengthen ties with Al Azhar, commending the care provided to Jordanian students, including offering scholarships and facilitations of their academic journey.
