FM Stresses Arab Region Cornerstone of Egypt’s National Security

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stresses paramount importance Egypt attaches to the Arab region as its strategic depth and a core pillar of national security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Minister's remarks came during a meeting on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Head of the House of Representatives' Arab Affairs Committee. This meeting was part of ongoing consultations aimed at bolstering joint Arab action and enhancing coordination to serve mutual interests and regional stability.

Abdelatty voiced the Foreign Ministry's appreciation for cooperation with parliament and its various committees, highlighting continued coordination with Arab partners to address mounting regional challenges and strengthen Arab solidarity amid accelerating developments and successive crises in the region.

He also reviewed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Arab nations, underlining the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy and the activation of friendship committees to deepen institutional ties with Arab legislatures.

The Minister reaffirmed Egypt's foreign policy constants, including respect for state sovereignty, rejection of external interference in Arab affairs, and the promotion of economic and investment cooperation among Arab states.

For his part, Abou El-Enein underscored the committee's commitment to maintaining close coordination with the Foreign Ministry to support Egypt's foreign policy priorities across the Arab world and contributing effectively to safeguarding Egyptian and Arab national security amid current regional challenges.
