Cairo: The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar commends the wisdom of Gulf States in exercising restraint and avoiding regional conflict despite unjustified aggression.
According to State Information Service Egypt, His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, welcomed the cessation of hostilities against Iran and the protection of innocent civilians from the woes of wars and conflicts. The Grand Imam called for an immediate end to Iranian attacks on Gulf states, while simultaneously praising the wisdom of the Gulf States, Jordan, and Iraq for exercising restraint and refusing to be drawn into an expanded circle of war and conflict, despite the unjustified aggression against them.
His Eminence also lauded the Egyptian-Pakistani-Arab mediation efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire. He prayed to Almighty God that this truce leads to permanent stability in the region and the world, and that innocent people may enjoy security, safety, and tranquility. He expressed his hope for the triumph of the language of reason, wisdom, and humanity, prioritizing human interests above all other considerations and ending the bloodshed everywhere.
The Grand Imam emphasized that elevating the voice of peace above the din of weapons, prioritizing the principle of wisdom over the chaos of force, and the ability to exercise restraint while considering the suffering of the innocent, is the true victory. He noted that the victory's value is measured by the lives it saves, the human dignity it preserves, and the reassurance and safety it instills in the hearts of people.
He stressed that wars bequeath nothing but more death, destruction, and ruin, causing the regression of moral values and leaving behind only wounds in the human body.
