Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held talks Sunday with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Cairo, engaging in political consultations to enhance bilateral relations and coordinate on regional and international developments.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf stated that the Egyptian and Kuwaiti ministers praised the deep historical ties and close fraternal relations between Egypt and Kuwait. They emphasized the importance of further enhancing cooperation across various fields to support development goals in both countries. The ministers expressed hope that the 14th session of the joint committee between the two countries would be held before the end of the year to advance cooperation in multiple sectors.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of expanding economic, trade, and investment relations, pointing out opportunities in infrastructure, real estate development, industry, and energy. He also underscored the need to strengthen trilateral cooperation in Africa, in coordination with the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
On regional issues, the Egyptian foreign minister reiterated Egypt's firm support for Kuwait, condemning attacks targeting its security and stability and rejecting any attempts to undermine its sovereignty. He affirmed Egypt's support for measures taken by Kuwait to safeguard its security and voiced appreciation for Kuwait's support for the Egyptian community during difficult circumstances.
The discussions also covered efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and end ongoing conflicts, including developments in US-Iran negotiations. Abdelatty briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on the outcome of his recent visit to Washington and a quadrilateral meeting held in Antalya involving Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey. He reiterated Egypt's stand in support of Gulf security, highlighting it as integral to Egypt's national security, and called for stronger Arab coordination to address current challenges.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister expressed appreciation for Egypt's supportive stance, praising Egypt's key role in promoting regional stability and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen Arab solidarity.
