Cairo: Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil recently held discussions with officials from Chinese sports technology company Dafeng to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in the sports sector in Egypt. These talks primarily focused on Egypt’s preparations to host the 2027 African Games, with Dafeng presenting a proposal for the development of a comprehensive sports complex.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Nabil emphasized Egypt’s position as an attractive investment destination and expressed a strong interest in expanding cooperation with China, highlighting the robust bilateral relationship between the two countries. He also underscored the importance of Egypt’s economic stability for investors and reiterated the government’s dedication to promoting local manufacturing in the sports sector through international partnerships.
The Minister noted that the 2027 African Games would include several events serving as qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. He indicated that potential areas of cooperation related to the tournament would be explored with the Chinese side.
Dafeng officials showed a keen interest in expanding their operations in Egypt. Their plans include collaborating with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, investing in sports projects, training Egyptian personnel, and establishing a manufacturing facility in the country with government backing. Dafeng is recognized as a leading company in China’s sports sector, actively involved in sports-related publishing and offering technological, cultural, and maintenance services.
