President El-Sisi Honors Fallen Soldiers on Sinai Liberation Day

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, laid a wreath at the Armed Forces Martyrs' Memorial and the tomb of the late President, Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of Sinai Liberation.According to State Information Service Egypt, the Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that upon the President's arrival at the Armed Forces Martyrs' Memorial area, he was received by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, and Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa.The Guard of Honor rendered the salute, and the national anthem was played upon the President's arrival. President El-Sisi then laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as the Martyr's Salute was played. He subsequently moved to the tomb of the late President Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, where he laid a wreath and recited Al-Fatiha.The visit to th e memorial was attended by commanders of the main branches of the Armed Forces and several senior military commanders. Additionally, several senior officials were present, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Counselor Hisham Badawi, Speaker of the Senate Counselor Essam El-Din Farid, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar His Eminence Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark Pope Tawadros II, Minister of Interior Major General Mahmoud Tawfik, Minister of State for Military Production Dr. Salah Suleiman, and Governor of Cairo Dr. Ibrahim Saber.
