Cairo: National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) Chairman Tarek El Houbi met on Thursday, April 23, 2026, with Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs at the US Embassy in Cairo, Paul Oliva, to discuss ways to support joint cooperation in food safety and exchange technical and regulatory expertise. The meeting aimed to enhance food trade and improve market control efficiency between the two countries.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions between El Houbi and Oliva centered on exploring training and capacity-building opportunities. They also focused on developing conformity assessment systems and strengthening technical communication between NFSA and US authorities to align with international practices.
El Houbi emphasized the NFSA's commitment to consolidating cooperation with international partners. This collaboration aims to support Egypt's food safety system and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports on a global scale.
