PM: Egypt to Step Up Efforts to Boost Local Industry with Private Sector

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced that the government is intensifying its efforts to promote Egyptian industry and localize key productive sectors in collaboration with the private sector. The initiative aims to attract more domestic, foreign, and Arab investments as part of a strategic plan to establish Egypt as a regional industrial hub.According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly's remarks were made during the commencement of an extensive tour of the Sokhna industrial zone, which is part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone). The Prime Minister is inaugurating several new industrial projects during this visit. Accompanying him on the tour are Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Eissa, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom, and Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem.The delegation was welcomed by Suez Governor Hany Rashad, SCZone Chief Executive Officer Waleid Gamal El-Din, along with oth er senior officials, industrial developers, and company executives. The inaugurations include nine projects spanning strategic sectors such as engineering and metal industries, pharmaceuticals, textiles, glass, chemicals and polyurethane, packaging, and recycling. These projects represent a total investment of approximately $182.5 million and are expected to create over 1,300 jobs over an area covering 337,998 square meters.Madbouly emphasized that the government has implemented measures to foster a more attractive investment climate and support the establishment of new factories, particularly within the SCZone. He highlighted directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi aimed at supporting local industry and alleviating pressures from rising production costs. He further noted that the SCZone has emerged as a vital component of the national economy and a significant destination for global investments due to its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and integration of ports and industrial zones, est ablishing it as a hub for global supply chains.The Prime Minister underscored that the increasing pace of industrial expansion in the SCZone is a testament to the growing confidence among local and international investors. This expansion also highlights the success of Egypt's integrated model for industry, trade, and logistics.SCZone head Gamal El-Din stated that the projects being inaugurated underscore the diversity and strength of the zone's industrial base. This reflects a strategy to attract quality investments that deepen local manufacturing, increase local content, and enhance value-added across production chains. He added that the authority continues to attract advanced industrial projects that utilize modern technology and target regional and international markets.
