Ankara: Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, met with Serbia's Minister for Gender Equality, Prevention of Violence against Women, and Economic and Political Empowerment of Women, Tatjana Macura. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a roundtable focusing on 'exchanging international policies and practices on child protection in the digital environment.'
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas, particularly social protection, services for the elderly, and economic empowerment. Morsy emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, pointing out that the 'Takaful and Karama' conditional cash transfer program is one of the largest in the Arab region.
Morsy further highlighted the significance of economic empowerment as a crucial element of the ministry's strategy to transition from mere assistance to development, indicating that employment is the primary route out of poverty. The discussions concluded with both parties agreeing to strengthen coordination and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
