Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi announced that Egypt is fully prepared to meet energy demand during the summer. During a field visit to oil and gas sites in the Western Desert, including facilities operated by Eni, Badawi reviewed progress on the second phase of the Mellitah gas processing plant expansion.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the project aims to boost local gas production ahead of peak summer demand and support the addition of new wells. The minister called for completing the project before the end of June to strengthen supplies and reduce imports. He also stressed strict safety measures as work continues around the clock, with thousands of workers involved in the project.
Meanwhile, officials said that the expansion will significantly increase processing capacity and raise overall production levels, alongside plans to drill new wells and improve output in the coming months.
