Petroleum Minister and United Energy Group Explore Production Boost Plans in Western Desert

Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi engaged in discussions with United Energy Group's (UEG) CEO Song Yu and the company's Regional President for Africa, Kamel El-Sawy, addressing their oil and gas operations in Egypt's Western Desert.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, during the Egypt International Energy Conference and Exhibition (EGYPS 2026), with key ministry officials present. The talks centered on potential collaboration between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and United Energy Group, particularly in renewable and green energy. They explored the integration of solar energy solutions in operational processes, a strategy aimed at reducing diesel consumption and enhancing efficiency.

UEG executives expressed appreciation for Egypt's investment climate and the efforts made to facilitate business and resolve operational issues. They confirmed their dedication to speeding up drilling activities to access new reserves and increase production.
