Salam city: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gombalat held an expanded meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) Mohamed El-Sewed to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation to bolster local industry and localize advanced manufacturing technologies. The meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters, is part of the presidential directives aimed at deepening domestic manufacturing and strengthening national productive capabilities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the state's strategy emphasizes increasing self-reliance on local production and reducing the import bill by integrating the latest industrial technologies into the national framework. The minister highlighted the importance of maintaining continuous dialogue with the Federation of Egyptian Industries, recognizing its key role in shaping the industrial landscape for major Egyptian corporations.
The necessity of coordinating efforts between state-owned industrial firms and the private sector was also underscored, with a call for fully utilizing the technical and human resources within military production companies to increase local content ratios. These initiatives form part of the National Strategy for Industry (2024-2030), which aims to create a significant advancement in the industrial sector, supporting the national economy and enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian-made products.
FEI Chairman Mohamed El-Sewed reiterated the commitment to raising local manufacturing rates through strategic partnerships to open new avenues for export. He emphasized that such initiatives are essential for generating foreign currency and adding value to industrial operations, aligning with the national goal of increasing the industrial sector's contribution to the GDP by 2030.
Additionally, the discussion covered various manufacturing projects involving the El-Sewedy Group and feeder industries, with a focus on how the FEI can support streamlining production. The meeting concluded with an emphasis on overcoming logistical challenges to ensure projects meet international specifications and attract investment into the military production sector.
The session included the participation of Tareq Bakheet, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the National Authority for Military Production, along with several senior officials from the Ministry and the Authority.
