Cairo: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat met with Hisham Shata, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the leading data center and information technology firm, INCOM Group. During the meeting, the two parties explored mechanisms for providing the necessary electrical power to establish a global data center project.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on cooperation in supporting and developing the data center sector. They also examined strategies to attract both global and local investments to the Egyptian market, leveraging Egypt's strategic geographic location, advanced fiber optic network infrastructure, and efficient regional and international connectivity.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat addressed various aspects, including INCOM Group's business plan, technological projects, ongoing data center initiatives, and future expansion plans for data centers. The minister reviewed the potential impact of the project on the digital transformation agenda for both public and private sectors, highlighting its implications for service efficiency, reliance on digital solutions, and support for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Further discussions involved ensuring the necessary electricity supply for the project, with an emphasis on renewable and clean energy sources. Dr. Mahmoud Esmat emphasized the importance of the national electricity grid in providing a safe, stable, and sustainable electricity supply.
