Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, with Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to review fuel supplies for power plants, the integration of renewable energy into the national grid, and the status of dues owed to foreign partners.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, Madbouly reaffirmed the government's commitment to expanding the share of renewable energy in the energy mix to boost efficiency and reduce generation costs, while also consistently settling dues owed to foreign partners. It was confirmed that payments remain on track, which supports continued investment in Egypt's energy sector.

Simultaneously, Minister Esmat confirmed the electricity sector's strong infrastructure. He pointed to efforts to improve fuel efficiency, uphold global standards, and maintain generation units. He noted that 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy had been added to the national grid ahead of the summer season, as part of broader efforts to modernize the network and strengthen private-sector partnerships.

He also highlighted ongoing work to reduce fuel consumption, enhance performance, and ensure grid stability through regular monitoring and maintenance.

For his part, Minister Badawi reviewed the petroleum supply status and reaffirmed continuous monitoring of regasification vessels. He underscored round-the-clock coordination with the electricity ministry and joint task forces to maintain uninterrupted fuel supplies during peak summer demand.

Badawi added that the petroleum sector continues to meet the electricity sector's specified needs of gas and mazut, implementing proactive measures to address rising temperatures.
