Cairo: Egypt's engineering exports recorded an unprecedented increase in February, rising by 37.6 percent year-on-year to reach some $709.7 million, compared to $515.8 million in the same month of 2025, the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) said.
According to State Information Service Egypt, in its monthly report, the council described the figure as the highest monthly export value in the sector's history, reflecting the growing global competitiveness of national industry despite global economic challenges.
Exports of the first two months of 2026 also increased by 15.1 percent to hit $1.187 billion, up from around $1 billion during the same period of the last year.
The strong growth was driven by key sectors, including metals, which surged by 77%, followed by automotive components at 43%, and electrical and electronic industries at 20.8%.
Exports also expanded across European markets such as Germany, Italy, and France, alongside Arab countries including Libya, Morocco, and Lebanon, as well as emerging African and Asian markets.
