Cairo: Egypt's Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, has expressed his country's support for ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, aiming to secure a deal to end the current conflict. Abdelatty's remarks came during discussions with several international counterparts at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty engaged in talks with the foreign ministers of Trkiye, Bolivia, Azerbaijan, Syria, Rwanda, Comoros, and Portugal. These meetings were held on the sidelines of the forum, demonstrating Egypt's active role in diplomatic efforts. Additionally, Abdelatty met with Massad Boulos, the US Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, and Miguelngel Moratinos, the High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNOAC).
Abdelatty's articulation of hope for a US-Iran agreement that could conclude the ongoing war reflects the broader context of easing tensions between the two nations. Tehran has announced the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil supply route that had been nearly closed for weeks. This development accompanies statements by US President Donald Trump, who indicated that talks with Iran are anticipated over the weekend, with the potential for a swift resolution.
