Cairo: Egypt has launched its 15th humanitarian aid convoy via the Rafah border crossing, preparing to enter Gaza through the Karm Abu Salem crossing in an effort to counter the famine caused by the ongoing conflict in the region. The convoy is part of a larger initiative aimed at providing essential relief to the affected population in Gaza.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) organized the convoy as part of the Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza humanitarian initiative, which was launched on 27 July. The convoy includes several hundred tons of essential supplies, including food baskets, flour, infant formula, and hygiene products, to help alleviate the dire situation in Gaza.
Since the launch of the initiative on 27 July, Egypt has sent 14 aid convoys to Gaza to address the unfolding famine resulting from the five-month complete Israeli blockade on the strip. On Wednesday, Egypt dispatched its 14th aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying hundreds of tons of food, relief, and medical supplies along with fuel. The previous day, the 13th Egyptian aid convoy delivered thousands of tons of food, medical equipment, hospital beds, and fuel to the strip.
