Cairo: Egypt and Sweden have embarked on discussions to expand their collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector, focusing on technical regulatory expertise and aligning Egypt's pharmaceutical system with global standards. Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Ali El-Ghamrawy underscored the significance of these efforts, particularly in supporting the nation's bid for World Health Organization accreditation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, a virtual meeting was held between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Swedish Medical Products Agency, led by Director General Ann Lindberg. Senior officials from both countries participated, with the primary agenda being the strengthening of cooperation, enhancement of regulatory systems, and exchange of best practices.
El-Ghamrawy highlighted the critical need to build human and technical capacities within Egypt's pharmaceutical sector. He noted that collaboration with Sweden is pivotal in enhancing efficiency, quality, and safety in the industry. The Swedish delegation commended Egypt's advancements and expressed their desire for deeper cooperation.
During the meeting, both parties discussed shared priorities and strategic steps to activate a cooperation protocol. This initiative aims to bolster pharmaceutical regulation and ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective medical products in both nations.
