Cairo: The Supreme Energy Council convened its 23rd meeting at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy headquarters to discuss power supply strategies for 14 new industrial projects. The meeting was led by Minister Mahmoud Esmat and included participation from senior cabinet members such as Deputy Prime Minister Kamel El Wazir, Minister Rania Al-Mashat, and Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi. Other key ministers and officials from relevant authorities were present, with the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade participating via video conference.According to State Information Service Egypt, the council focused on providing necessary infrastructure and energy for new industrial undertakings and enhancing capacity for existing facilities. Among the approved projects are new solar glass factories, a complex for producing chemically derived sodium sulphate, and plants for extracting potassium chloride and bromine from seawater. Additionally, the council discussed the relocation and reconstruction of an ammonia plant, as well as the addition of new production lines to existing factories. The council confirmed that electricity and natural gas supplies will be secured to support these initiatives, which are projected to increase industrial output and attract investment.Esmat highlighted that these decisions align with Egypt's national energy strategy, which aims to balance production and consumption in accordance with sustainable development goals and economic growth plans. He emphasized ongoing efforts to support industry, localize advanced technologies, and maximize returns from electricity and gas production. The strategy aims to raise the share of renewables in the national energy mix to 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040, ensuring long-term economic and environmental benefits.
