Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas. The call highlighted ongoing collaboration and support between Egypt and Palestine amidst the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the Spokesman for the Presidency, stated that President Abbas expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support of the Palestinian cause and the humanitarian aid provided by Egypt. This support comes in light of the dire conditions faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza.
President Abbas commended Egypt's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians, asserting Palestine's solidarity with Egypt's leadership, military, government, and people against efforts to destabilize its security. He condemned the Israeli government's recent decision to reoccupy the Gaza Strip and displace its residents as a continuation of Israeli violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem. President Abbas confirmed his commitment to pursuing political action across various platforms, including the UN Security Council, to gather regional and international support against these actions.
President Abbas underscored the urgency of allowing Palestine to take full responsibility in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the delivery of humanitarian aid. He called for Palestine to manage security with Arab and international backing, ensuring the withdrawal of occupying forces to maintain law, order, and legitimate governance.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for Palestinians, emphasizing Egypt's active role in facilitating a ceasefire, delivering aid, and securing the release of hostages in Gaza. He also reiterated Egypt's strong opposition to any displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.
