Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated Egypt's continued commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and intensifying efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He also emphasized the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of hostages and detainees, and firmly rejected the displacement of Palestinians from their land.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, President El Sisi's unwavering support for the Palestinian cause was acknowledged. Abbas expressed deep gratitude for Egypt's humanitarian assistance amid the dire conditions in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian president commended Egypt's firm opposition to the displacement of Palestinians, affirming Palestine's solidarity with Egypt in maintaining its security and stability.
The spokesman for the Egyptian presidency reported that Abbas criticized the Israeli government's decision to reoccupy the Gaza Strip and displace its population, calling it a new crime and an addition to ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Abbas emphasized his commitment to political action at various international forums, including the UN Security Council, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, to rally support against these plans.
Furthermore, Abbas highlighted the necessity for the State of Palestine to assume full responsibility in the Gaza Strip. He stressed the importance of an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the delivery of humanitarian aid. He also underscored the need for Palestinian security responsibilities to be supported by Arab and international entities, alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces to ensure unified governance and legitimate authority under the Palestinian State.
