Egypt Strongly Condemns Israeli Decision to Fully Reoccupy Gaza Strip

Cairo: Egypt condemned in the strongest possible terms the decision of the Israeli security cabinet to put forward a plan to fully reoccupy the Gaza Strip with the aim of entrenching Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, continuing the war of extermination in Gaza, eliminating all aspects of life for the Palestinian people, undermining their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state as well as liquidating the Palestinian cause in blatant and unacceptable violation of international law and international humanitarian law. In a statement issued Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Israel's continued policy of starvation, systematic killing and genocide against the defenseless Palestinian people will only fuel the conflict, escalate tensions, deepen hatred and spread extremism in the region - a situation already aggravated by Israel's aggression on the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused there.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt called on the international community, including the Security Council and all relevant parties, to assume their political, legal, and moral responsibilities and to take urgent action to stop the lawlessness and arrogance of power pursued by Israel, that seeks to impose a fait accompli by force, undermine the chances of achieving peace and eliminate the prospects for a two-state solution, the statement read. It added that Egypt reaffirmed that neither Israel nor the region would enjoy security and stability except through the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
