Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the government is implementing a package of reforms under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), in coordination with several ministries. He noted that the reforms include setting national environmental sustainability targets, identifying the share of green public investments, accelerating Egypt's decarbonization process, analyzing climate-related financial risks, and enhancing the financial sector's resilience to climate change.According to State Information Service Egypt, these measures aim to strengthen the national economy, improve the investment climate, and expand the transition towards a green economy. The remarks came during Madbouly's meeting with Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat to follow up on her ministry's executive steps within the RSF framework, including the expansion of the 'NWFE' national platform.Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed El Homsany stated that the meeting reviewed refor ms related to climate standards and procedures in selecting projects for the economic and social development plan, the scaling up of the pilot asset registration project to cover the transport and housing ministries, and the expansion of green projects under NWFE.Mashat highlighted that climate criteria have been updated in the 'General Development Plan Preparation Guide,' circulated to all ministries. She noted that the revised standards are applied to all projects in the 2025-2026 plan, covering 41 new projects, including two eco-friendly initiatives.The minister emphasized that NWFE is central to Egypt's RSF commitments, adding that proactive steps were taken to introduce new projects. These include the March signing of a seawater desalination plant project in Ain Sokhna under the water pillar, and the development of the Zafarana power plant under the energy pillar, implemented by TAQA Arabia and Voltalia.
