PM Directs Immediate Implementation of UHIS Second Phase in Minya

Minya: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has instructed the government to commence the implementation of the Universal Health Insurance System (UHIS) in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Minya. This marks the beginning of the second phase of the system, which will also encompass the governorates of Damietta, Matrouh, Kafr El-Sheikh, and North Sinai.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli's directives were issued during a meeting held on Monday, September 15, 2025. The meeting included discussions with Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Alexandria Governor Ahmed Khaled, and other officials. They reviewed the readiness of the governorates scheduled for inclusion in the second phase of the UHIS and explored the potential addition of Alexandria to this stage.

The Minister of Health praised the UHIS as a key project of the state, designed to provide healthcare services to all citizens. He presented the preparations currently underway for the execution of the system's second phase and detailed the ongoing collaboration with the Egyptian HealthCare Authority to ensure the inclusion of the necessary governorates.
