Cairo: Egypt was crowned champion of the Official African Traditional Karate Championship, organized by the Egyptian Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF) at Cairo International Stadium. Egypt's national karate team achieved an impressive feat by securing 67 medals at the tournament, with Sudan and Congo trailing behind with 27 and 16 medals, respectively.According to State Information Service Egypt, the event saw participation from 150 players representing 15 African countries. The continental competition concluded on Friday, April 25, 2025, marking a significant occasion for African traditional karate.Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi, who was present at several matches, commended the successful organization of the event. He stated that hosting the African championship in Egypt underscores the country's strong relations with African nations in the sporting arena. Furthermore, the minister highlighted Egypt's dedication to fostering growth and opportunities for all sports within the region.
