Cairo: The Media Monitoring Committee, formed under the National Elections Authority (NEA) Decision No. 52/2025, convened for its inaugural meeting in preparation for Egypt's upcoming House of Representatives elections. The first round of these elections is set to take place on 10-11 November 2025.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by NEA Chairman Hazem Badawi and Executive Director Ahmed Bandari, along with a select group of experts, academics, and media professionals. The committee members reached a consensus on establishing a systematic working mechanism and monitoring protocols to guide their efforts in providing impartial and professional media coverage of the electoral process.
The committee members highlighted the necessity of developing a practical executive framework to fulfill the committee's responsibilities. They stressed the importance of conducting comprehensive and daily monitoring of both traditional and digital media outlets. The committee aims to provide the NEA with analytical and objective reports to ensure transparency and fairness throughout the coverage.
Additionally, the meeting emphasized the need for impartial media coverage, ensuring all candidates receive equal opportunities. It also focused on the importance of combating incendiary or abusive content, which could potentially disrupt the electoral process.
