Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam emphasized the ministry's focus on enhancing communication with national institutions, highlighting the essential role of media in increasing public awareness about conserving water, safeguarding water resources from pollution, and sharing knowledge on issues of national interest.According to State Information Service Egypt, Sewilam recognized television and radio channels as crucial platforms for disseminating accurate information to citizens. This was discussed during a meeting with Ahmed Al-Moslimani, Chairman of the National Media Authority.Al-Moslimani affirmed the importance of the water sector and the media's role in delivering meaningful content that benefits the nation. He highlighted the involvement of the National Media Authority's television and radio channels in supporting awareness initiatives led by the ministry.The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation initiated the 'Ala El-Qadd', a campaign promoting responsible water u se during the 7th Cairo Water Week in October 2024, supported by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Coptic Orthodox Church. The campaign engaged multiple ministries and organizations such as the Ministries of Education, Endowments, Culture, Agriculture, Transport, Environment, Misr El-Kheir Foundation, UNICEF, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, and the Federation of Water Users Associations across the nation.Efforts included coordinating with various ministries and entities to incorporate water-related information into seminars across governorates, targeting different societal segments. Collaborations with Al-Azhar, the Coptic Orthodox Church, and the Ministry of Endowments aimed to convey simplified water awareness messages through religious platforms. Training workshops were organized for imams and preachers to facilitate these efforts.Additionally, the ministry worked with the Ministries of Agriculture, Culture, Environment, and the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater to integrate water-related content into their programs, with active participation from ministry representatives.
