Finance Min.: Supporting Efforts to Rationalize, Enhance Efficiency of Water Resources Use Through Modern Technology

Cairo: Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk asserted on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, his commitment to supporting efforts aimed at rationalizing and improving the efficiency of water resource management through the application of modern technology.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this announcement was made during Kouchouk's meeting with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam. The meeting focused on enhancing joint coordination between the two ministries across several key areas to better serve the water management system and enable it to achieve its objectives efficiently.

Kouchouk highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination between the ministries on all shared files, noting its positive impact on the public interest. For his part, Sewilam stressed his commitment to continued cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, ensuring the implementation of various water-related projects in line with their scheduled timelines.

The meeting also reviewed the status of a proposed protocol involving the ministries of water resources and irrigation, agriculture, and finance along with national banks aimed at financing the transition to modern irrigation systems. Sewilam underscored the necessity of adopting modern irrigation systems in all sandy lands, in accordance with the water resources and irrigation law. This comes alongside ongoing efforts to develop irrigation canals and promote advanced on-farm agricultural practices.
