Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi stressed the importance of enhancing the skills and expertise of human resources in the mineral resources sector, describing them as the cornerstone of the comprehensive development system at the current stage.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during a meeting held on Tuesday between the minister and the board of the Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority, chaired by geologist Yasser Ramadan. The meeting aimed to review upcoming plans, with a primary focus on implementing a comprehensive aerial geophysical survey project and training sector personnel on the latest global exploration and mining techniques.
Badawi stated that the training program for Egyptian mining personnel, in cooperation with Australian Murdoch University-one of the leading institutions specializing in mining sciences-aims to develop the skills of geologists working at the authority and its affiliated companies. The program involves specialized courses aligned with the latest developments in geology and mineral exploration, preparing cadres capable of competing regionally and globally.
He also reviewed progress on launching the digital mining investment portal, scheduled for July. This portal will allow investors to view available areas and complete licensing and contracting procedures electronically via a unified platform designed to track licenses, streamline procedures, and provide data on mining opportunities.
The minister further highlighted the importance of the Egypt Mining Forum, scheduled for September 28-29. This edition is expected to mark a qualitative leap in participation, with broad attendance anticipated from senior government officials and global mining companies, reflecting Egypt's growing standing as a promising investment destination in the mining sector.
