Cairo: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh met on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Belarus Ambassador Yevgeny Sobolevsky to discuss economic cooperation and industrial projects.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Saleh emphasized Egypt's intentions to expand local manufacturing and attract industrial investment with higher added value. He highlighted the country's focus on technology transfer and the enforcement of strict standards on food safety during their discussions.
The discussions also covered cooperation in manufacturing and assembling heavy equipment, such as tractors, trucks, and buses, with current production lines achieving local content levels of up to 45%. Both parties explored the potential for increasing Belarusian exports to Egypt, particularly in dairy products and baby food, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the meeting resulted in an agreement to resume joint industrial cooperation meetings and prepare for the next session of the joint committee. They also plan to strengthen business ties moving forward.
A joint business forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on May 7, aimed at presenting investment opportunities and connecting businesses from both nations.
