Health Ministry: Egypt Plans to Export Vaccines to 60 Countries, Establish Regional Hub by 2030

Cairo: Egypt plans to export vaccines to more than 60 countries by 2030, Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar announced on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The export portfolio is set to include vaccines for Hepatitis B, influenza, measles, rubella, and polio, alongside combined vaccines and treatments for malaria and cholera.

According to State Information Service Egypt, in a televised statement, Abdel Ghaffar detailed a significant expansion in the veterinary sector, noting that Egypt currently manufactures 15 products with a target to reach 30 in the coming years. The move is part of a broader state strategy to enhance domestic production in vital medical sectors.

The spokesperson highlighted "Vaccine City" as a flagship national project designed to bolster health security under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. Spanning 115,000 square meters, the integrated complex comprises 32 facilities, including manufacturing plants, research centers, quality control laboratories, and advanced logistical hubs.

Construction on the project's first phase is now complete, with infrastructure works reaching 90% completion. A number of key facilities, including the central packaging unit and the logistics complex, have already commenced operations to support production lines.

Abdel Ghaffar said the project aims to achieve national self-sufficiency and diminish import dependency. He added that the three-phase development, scheduled for total completion by 2030, is positioned to establish Egypt as a regional center for vaccine innovation and export.
