FM Reiterates Commitment to Principles of UN Charter

Cairo: Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khalaf reiterated on Friday Egypt's full commitment to the principles of the United Nations Charter and to supporting multilateral efforts aimed at achieving peace, security, and development for all peoples. In a post on his official account on the platform X, the Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that the United Nations is marking the 80th anniversary of its founding, describing it as 'eight decades of tireless work to promote peace, collective security, and sustainable development.'

According to State Information Service Egypt, Khalaf also highlighted, in figures, the scope of cooperation between Egypt and the UN over the past 80 years. He said Egypt has served six terms as a member of the UN Security Council and currently hosts 38 UN offices. He mentioned that 1,199 Egyptian personnel are participating in UN peacekeeping missions, including 102 Egyptian women. Egypt ranks seventh globally in the number of military experts serving in UN peacekeeping operations and 13th worldwide in overall peacekeeping participation.
