Cairo: The Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, engaged with consulting experts from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, led by Dr. Akram Farouk, Vice Dean of the Faculty. This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to harness rare earth elements extracted from various minerals. It reflects the state's focus on optimizing its natural resources and establishing specialized economic entities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting included Dr. Hamed Mera, Chairman of the Nuclear Materials Authority, who discussed executive plans to establish an industrial complex. This complex aims to incorporate production lines and advanced mining processes to handle minerals like "kaolin" and "glauconite." These processes will facilitate the production of organic fertilizers and the extraction of rare materials associated with these minerals.
The strategic significance of rare materials and their prevalence in earth minerals, which are often linked with nuclear materials, was a key topic. The meeting also outlined requirements for swiftly implementing President El-Sisi's directives through a robust industrial economic framework.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat confirmed that all project-related data and studies have been shared with the experts. A working group has been formed to assist in developing the concept and design of the proposed industrial complex.
Minister Esmat emphasized the urgency of implementing the presidential directive to extract and fully utilize rare elements through national economic and industrial channels.
