Gaza: Hospitals in Gaza recorded five new deaths, due to starvation and malnutrition, in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll of that kind since October 2023 to 127, including 85 children, Gaza-based health authorities said yesterday in a brief statement.
According to Nam News Network, Commissioner-General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, Philippe Lazzarini, highlighted the critical situation on social media platform X. He emphasized that a manmade hunger crisis can only be resolved through political intervention.
Lazzarini urged for the lifting of the siege, opening of the gates, and ensuring safe movements and dignified access for people in need. He also mentioned that the agency currently has the equivalent of 6,000 trucks in Jordan and Egypt, ready and waiting for the authorization to enter Gaza.
