Cairo: Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shemi has declared the revival of El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company as a strategic milestone in Egypt's pursuit to localize its automotive industry and enhance the national economy. Shemi made this announcement during an unannounced visit to El Nasr Company, a subsidiary of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company under the Ministry of Public Business Sector.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister toured the company's facilities, including factories, production lines, and ongoing development projects. During his visit to the bus manufacturing plant, Shemi witnessed the production of various bus models such as the "Nasr Sky" tourist bus, the "Nasr Star" minibus, and the environmentally friendly "Nasr Green" buses powered by natural gas. He stressed the need to expand production capacity to meet domestic demand and enhance exports to regional markets.
Shemi also reviewed the preparations at the passenger car factory, which has recently undergone significant modernization. He engaged with the workforce, underscoring that human capital is crucial to productivity and development. The ministry is committed to improving working conditions across its affiliated companies, investing in continuous training, and enhancing both technical and administrative skills.
Shemi identified El Nasr Automotive as an emblem of Egypt's industrial heritage, highlighting the state's commitment to reviving and modernizing this once-dormant industrial giant. He emphasized the ministry's focus on supporting affiliated companies to deepen local manufacturing and increase the local component in production, in line with the national vision of reducing imports, promoting self-reliance, and strengthening the domestic industrial base.
The relaunch of El Nasr Automotive is described as a significant signal of the state's dedication to preserving, optimizing, and revitalizing strategic industrial assets. Shemi reiterated the ministry's unwavering commitment to restructuring and developing its affiliated companies to maximize their contribution to Egypt's national economy.
